The short version: some links here earn us a commission, you pay the same either way, nobody pays to be featured, and most of what a Scotland trip costs pays us nothing at all.

Which links are affiliate links

Every "Check availability" button, and every in-text link that opens a tour listing, points to TourRadar, GetYourGuide or Viator and carries our partner tag. The five multi-day packages are sold on TourRadar; the twelve day tours split between GetYourGuide and Viator. If you book after clicking one, the platform pays us a share of the commission it already earns from the operator. Your price is identical to the price you would see going straight to that listing, because our cut comes out of the platform's margin and is never added to your ticket.

Those three platforms are the only affiliate relationships on this site. There are no hotel links, no flight links, no display advertising, no sponsored posts and no paid reviews. The Highlands map embedded on the homepage earns us nothing. If a fourth network is ever added, this page and the footer disclosure will name it before the first link goes live, not after.

The parts of your trip that pay us nothing

This is worth saying plainly, because it is most of what you will spend. Your flights to Scotland, your hotel or extra hostel nights outside a package, the meals a package does not cover, and any car hire you add on your own time all pay us nothing. So does the fuel, if you rent a car and drive the single-track roads yourself once your tour ends.

That has an obvious consequence for our incentives, so here it is. The only part of your trip we can earn on is the tour, and the tours here run from $16.25 to CA$4,245. We could quietly push the expensive end. Instead the pages spend real space on the cheap end: the $47.20 Loch Ness cruise, the $16.25 Scotch Whisky Experience, and which day tours duplicate something a package already includes so you are not paying twice. Those pages cost us commission on purpose.

What it does not change

• Inclusion. A tour ships here if it is genuinely bookable today, if its price and rating survive checking, and if its review record supports whatever a card would claim about it. Seventeen products cleared that bar. Thirteen others did not, and nothing bought its way past the gate.
• Ordering. No operator can buy a position and none has been offered one. Within each category the order follows review volume, most-proven first, which is why the Edinburgh Castle tour with more than 78,000 reviews sits above a smaller listing rather than the reverse. Sorting by commission would produce a different page.
• What we say about them. The Orkney package carries seven reviews and its card prints seven. The Scottish Dream package is described as running to CA$4,245, not converted into a friendlier-looking dollar figure. None of that is the flattering way to sell a booking.
• What we leave out. Thirteen candidates found during research were rejected: thin-rated hop-on hop-off alternatives, self-guided Skye "tours" with two or three reviews, and products outside the Edinburgh, Highlands, Skye and Glasgow theme this site actually covers. All of them would have paid commission exactly like the seventeen we kept.
• Corrections. A wrong price gets fixed whether or not the fix costs us a click. The whole lineup is re-checked roughly monthly, and readers who spot a gap can write to us through the contact page.

Ratings, review counts and prices

Every rating and review count on this site is the platform's own published number at the time we checked it, read off the live listing and confirmed on a second, independent pass wherever the listing allowed it. Three of the seventeen, Edinburgh Castle, the Scotch Whisky Experience and the Glasgow hop-on hop-off, could only be single-pass confirmed, and that is stated rather than presented as fully double-verified. Nothing is averaged across platforms, rounded up or invented.

Prices work the same way and come with a bigger caveat. What you see is a current per-person from-price, running $16.25 to CA$4,245 across the lineup. What you actually pay moves with the date, the party size and the departure you choose. Two of the five packages price in Canadian dollars on TourRadar rather than US dollars, and that currency is shown as-is rather than converted, so what you see here matches what you would see on the booking page.

If you would rather not use our links

Search the operator's name on the platform directly, or find that operator's own website and book there. MacBackpackers, Intrepid Travel, Highland Explorer Tours and CIE Tours all sell their packages directly, and every GetYourGuide and Viator day tour operator can be found by name on their own site too. We would genuinely rather you got out to Skye or Loch Ness than not. The comparisons, the cost tables, the FAQ and the guides work exactly as well as research whether or not you ever click a booking link.
